Finding milkweed for the Monarchs can be a daunting task if you limit yourself to your local big-box stores.

Monarch Watch has put together a list of over 250 vendors. You can download the list at this link.

  1. Luckily, milkweed in St. Louis it is easy to find! At Greenscape Gardens, we carry 9 different native species of Asclepias which we source from the same supplier as Monarch Watch… a lot of the seed is collected in Cole County, MO thanks to Mervin Wallace! We have been distributing free Asclepias tuberosa since June (and last year we distributed over 5,000 milkweeds for our Show Me The Monarchs campaign). Last week, we were contacted by the folks at the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge in Washington D.C. to be a case study to help demonstrate to other parts of the country how we engage people in planting for pollinators… St. Louis is a leader in the movement thanks to a team of partners… AND ESPECIALLY THANKS TO TOM TERRIFIC!!!!
