Where Are the St. Louis Monarch Butterflies?

Normally, by this time of year I have lots of monarch butterflies in my yard, but not this year. As you look at the graphic from Journey North, you’ll easily spot the lack of monarchs in the mid-west and the late travels of the ones in the east. The graphic below shows a population of only 19% compared with 2011.

It looks like very few monarchs will actually be flying through St.Louis and these will only be in October.
