Common Sootywing – new visitor to the butterfly garden

I got this first-time visitor yesterday as it visited my verbena bonareinsis. It’s a Common Sootywing and is noted by it’s black/brown color and white dots on its wings and head. It’s smaller than a regular skipper also.

It’s host plant is usually Lambs quarters, Chenopodium album, or AMARANTHACEAE – Amaranth Family, but I have seen references that it will use mint, oregano, malva(hollyhock) or  cockscomb (Celosia). Since I have mint, oregano and malva I’m hoping to see it lay eggs on one of these plants.
