Gray Hairstreak Host Plant – Verbena

Just recently Gray Hairstreaks have been showing up in the garden. To my surprise I saw one laying eggs on my verbena which I have over-wintered in a large pot.

After looking around on the internet, I believe the plant is Lantana montevidensis.(trailing lantana)

Note – according to “The Butterflies of North America” by James Scott, the male abdomen is orange.
