Hummingbird Clearwing Moth

If you want to attract a Hummingbird Clearwing moth, try planting honeysuckle, the host plant. I planted Lonicera sempervirens, Trumpet Honeysuckle, this year. It’s a Plant of Merit in St. Louis. Another moth, the Snowberry Clearwing looks very similar.
Here’s video I took in my backyard.

  1. Do you happen to know which of the Hummingbird moths uses Pentas as a host plant? Every year I see a moth, very similar to the one shown, come to my pentas. Within a week or so, my Pentas are being stripped by very large caterpillars.

  2. I did a quick search on Google - moth penta host - and came up with this result.

You might have to buy a lot of Pentas to keep it going.
